The Scottish Goldsmiths Trust (SGT) is the national charity for Scotland’s Jewellery & Silversmithing sector.
Established by The Incorporation of Goldsmiths of the City of Edinburgh in the year 2000, the SGT champions the education, design and craft of precious metal jewellery and objects. We work to preserve the past and support the present and future of this sector through delivery of a range of programming. This includes exhibition and promotional opportunities that grow audiences at home and internationally, building on Scotland’s strong reputation for high quality design and craftsmanship. By working in partnership and collaboration with makers, educators, businesses and other organisations, we encourage investment and innovation in the sector, nurturing new talent and career development through awards, mentorship, workshops and commissions. We advocate for sustainable and responsible business through our internationally renowned Ethically Making Programme. The SGT aims to improve accessibility to jewellery and silversmithing through local community activity that supports wellbeing and education. Scotland’s celebrated Jewellery and Silversmithing sector is a cultural and economic asset in a modern, outward-looking nation.
